How do I apply for a place in the home?
We are planning for our home to be ready for people to move in by 2024.
12 places will be available to people from Oxfordshire who have been diagnosed with young onset dementia and require at least five hours of care and support each week.
We will be developing more detailed criteria for living in our home. We envisage most people will be signposted by a health or care professional, or a charity working with people with young onset dementia. People can also contact us directly to apply for a place.
We cannot reserve places in the home at this stage, but we are very keen to hear from you if you feel that the home would be suitable for you or a family member so that we can discuss your needs with you and you can help shape our services. Please contact us via info@youngdementiaukhomes.org
Criteria for prospective residents
People applying for a place must be between 45 – 65 years of age at the time of moving into the independent living facility.
They must have been diagnosed with a form of young onset dementia by a medical professional.
They must require at least five hours of extra care and support each week.
They may have other physical conditions requiring particular care and support, however people being treated for alcohol or drug dependency may not be suitable for a place.
Each application will be reviewed and accepted at the discretion of the home manager, in consultation with YoungDementia UK Homes’ network of health and care professionals in the community.
